I think the only point that calls for notice is the recent treaty between H.M.'s Govt and the Chiefs of Perak of the 20th Jan 1874. (See page 103 of accompanying printed paper). but referred to in the French Memorandum as the Treaty of the 14th January. But I must admit that it cannot be compared to the French Treaty with Annam. It does not fetter commerce, impose differential duties, or throw the entire control of the country into the hands of British officers.
